The mother and her young son– a toddler– were riding the bus one day. In the middle of their rather quiet ride (back in those days when bus rides tended to be safe and quiet), the toddler yelled (as toddlers will do),

“Mommy, is our cat a mommy cat or a daddy cat?”

The mother quietly explained “it’s a daddy cat.”

The little boy thought for a second and yelled, “How can you tell?”

The entire bus was suddenly quiet as a tomb, waiting to hear how a young mother would handle such a ticklish question from a child too young to even have a clue about sex.

The mother came back with, “He has whiskers, doesn’t he?”
