CITATION AND $5000 RESEARCH FUNDING

One of Australia’s most recognized Christian Minister’s Rowland Croucher 67, received the 2004 Well-Being Australia Citation with its accompanying $5000 research funding from Mr Basil Sellers.

“I & II Timothy Australian Episcopos Citation: Bishop of Christian Leadership” recognises an ordained Minister in a non-conformist tradition for Distinguished Christian Leadership in Australia as established in I & II Timothy for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“By virtue of their Distinguished Christian Leadership, recipients are an Episcopos – a bishop, pastor, minister. These Distinguished Christian Leaders may be sought for comments on a wide range of issues by the Australian media”, WBA secretary Mr Victor Matthews explained.

The recipients are Distinguished Reverends (Distghd Rev). Mr Matthews conveyed the view that in the light of today’s transparency and church attendance shifts to less traditional forms of worship, the Christians in Australia are looking to fresh statements of “Christian Leader”.

Mr Basil Sellers recognized the value of this Citation by providing the first $5000 for the recipient’s ministry research funding. WBA has a long association with Mr Sellers (Basil Sellers House the AIS athlete retreat, and The Basil Sellers Art Centre, an art ministry).

Mr Matthews stated: “WBA intended the Citation for our chairman Mark Tronson the Australian Cricket Team chaplain 17 years Ret. Mark sought out Mr Basil Sellers for this one -off $5,000 ministry research funding, not for himself, rather for the 2004 recipient to establish the Citation.”

Rowland Croucher CV: 1973-81 Minister of then largest Australian congregation, Melbourne’s Blackburn Baptist, 81-83 Canada, 83-91 World Vision’s Minister at Large to Leaders and editor of “Grid Magazine”, 1991- initiated John Mark Ministries, pastoring Ministers and former Ministers across the denominational/church spectrum and speaker at Ministers’ Retreats.

Reverend Peter Nelson, Churches of Christ representative with ACT Heads of Churches, says, “This Citation inspires church leaders, provides templates for ministry and sets benchmarks for true Christian service.”

Pastor Garry Harris, Christian Outreach Centre national office in Sydney said, “It is great to see an award that recognises and encourages the style of leadership that Jesus Christ taught his disciples to pursue in the gospel of Mark 10: 42-45 (servanthood).”

WBA will seek out sponsors for these ministry research funding grants in each ensuing year.
