From a thoughtful friend:
Though some people talk up Lee Strobel as some kind of impartial observer with a great journalistic background, he is a committed Christian whose previous two books are “The Case for Faith” and “The Case for Christ”. So he comes into this project with some presuppositions. And then, who are the eminent scientists he speaks to? Jonathon Wells, Michael Behe, Stephen C Myer, Robin Collins, William Lane Craig (a philosopher not a scientist), Guillermo Gonzalez and Jay Richards, J P Moreland. Along the way he refers to Phillip Johnson (a lawyer not a scientist), and William Dembski.
Five minutes research will demonstrate that every single one of these people are connected to the Discovery Institute and its Centre for Science and Culture (the main Intelligent Design organisation). Hardly a cross-selection of uninterested observers! The only thing that would have surprised Lee about their answers would have been if they had said, “Actually we all belong to a tiny minority of scientists who have a ideological commitment which drives our work far more than the actual science does.” It’s a shame they didn’t say that because it would have been true.
Before spending your money, have a look at this review http:// caseagainstfaith.com/articles/strobel_cfac.htm and then if you want to buy the book as an example of a partisan work showing how that small part of the scientific world works then feel free.
