Story of Spiritual Abuse

The 2nd part of my story

This is a point summary only:

1. After 5 years of seeking to discover what Spiritual Abuse (SA) is all about, I have found it

* much more widespread than imagined.

* far more secretive than ever imagined.

2. Jesus’ words on this kind of secrecy quoted from TM:

” Don’t be intimidated. Eventually everything is going to be out in the open, and everyone will know how things really are. So don’t hesitate to go public now. Don’t be bluffed into silence by the threats of bullies. There’s nothing they can do to your soul, your core being. Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life- body and soul- in his hands.” Matt 10: 26-28

3. My own experience one of feeling perpetrators deserve no protection, and deserve exposing, at least to perhaps save the next potential victim. Also discovered abusers don’t just offend once- their behaviour is repeated.

Abusers are protected by fear. Whether it is the few or the many who know of their activities, fear in almost all cases will protect the abuser, and this is well known too by the abuser. They know they are safe to continue their activities, and they do. Joyce Meyer’s book “Addiction Approval” ( Publisher: Warner Faith 2005) addresses why it is that we want approval from others- that approval also plays right into the hands of abusers- they are leaders and they know they will be safe!

4. Jesus was fearless in speaking out against the spiritual abusers in his day- He confronted them to their face. So did John the Baptist, and both paid with their lives! That’s why so few speak against it today- the ticket price is so high!

Spiritually abused people are either:

a. Too afraid to say anything to anyone.

b. So afraid they tell just a few, and even then fear it ‘getting out’.

c. Willing to tell their story to a wider group, but desire anonymity in the process.

d. Free to tell anyone, anywhere, for the purpose of blessing and healing victims, and the exposing of perpetrators.

5. Telling one’s story is also healing, when done in a way that looks to the Holy Spirit’s leading. When a hearer listens to such a story, he/she learns

a. I’m not the only one!

b. How someone else worked through their abuse.

c. How they broke down the power of the abuser and their own fear, and overcame!

d. There is no argument against a true story- it happened! Truth is powerful!

6. It took 4 years for me to build enough courage to tell my story, and in September 2003, the first part of my story was told. That was healing for me- now, more than 2 years later, I decided to commence my 2nd part. Easy? No way! Yet in the preparation for it, and actually doing it- further healing was poured upon me! I acknowledge that, and I am blessed by that! Why is that not selfish? Because I’m a person of great value and great worth, just as you are! Jesus died not for rubbish but for gold- pure gold!

7. My story was taped, and will be sent ( after editing out quite a few ‘microphone bumps and noises’) to those who’ve requested it. Please contact us if you’d like a copy ( $4 postpaid ). In written form the 2nd part will appear on the website ( http://www.peacemakerstoday.org ), but this is unlikely to be prior to it being given verbally first.
