=== SOME “PROFOUND NON-ADVICE” ===In 1943 Thomas Watson, Chairman of IBM said, “I think there is a world
market for maybe five computers!”Sarnoff of NBC said in the 1920s, “The wireless box has no imaginable
commercial value. Who would pay for a message sent to nobody in particular?”Lord Kelvin, the President of the Royal Society in 1895 said,
“Heavier-than-air machines are impossible.”In 1899 Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, Office of Patents said, “Everything
that can be invented has been invented!”And even Bill Gates the computer whiz kid said in 1981 “640 K ought to be
enough for anybody!”=== WISE WORDS OF ADVICE FROM A VERY WISE WIFE ===
In speaking about her husband she said: “I know what makes
him tick.
And I know what ticks him off.”=== TRADED TWO SONS FOR A DOG ===
I read about a frontier preacher who decided he wanted to keep a stray dog
that his two sons got attached to.The dog was jet black except for three distinctive white hairs on its tail.
One day the preacher saw an ad in their local newspaper about a lost dog
which fit the description of the dog they found right down to the three
white hairs on the tail. Enlisting the help of his sons, the preacher pulled
out the three white hairs.
The owner, however, heard that the preacher had a dog that might be his.
When he came looking for the dog who obviously recognized him, he was
certain the dog was his but not being able to find the three white hairs, he
left without the dog.Later the preacher admitted, “I kept the dog but I lost my boys.” The names
of his two sons? Frank and Jesse James!—
Source Unknown=== GLUE-BOUND AUDIENCE ===
According to one writer, Dustin Farnumm, a gifted but conceited actor, once
went to great lengths to explain to writer, Oliver Herford, how good the
play was that he was acting in at the time.“Why, yesterday,” I had the audience glued to their seats,” Farnumm bragged.
“How clever of you to think of it,” responded Herford.
=== NO HOUSE FOR A HOME ===
At the scene of a fire that destroyed a house a reporter, looking for a
human interest story, spoke to a small boy standing with his mother and
father watching their house being destroyed. He said to the lad, “Son, it
looks as if you don’t have a home any more.”Without hesitation the boy replied, “We have a home. . .we just don’t have a
house to put it in.”=== TIMELY QUOTES ===
“You see things that are and say, “Why?” But I dream of things that never
were and say,” Why not?”
— George Bernard Shaw“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” — Albert Einstein
“We must all hang together, else we shall all hang separately.” — Benjamin
Franklin
(at the signing of the Declaration of Independence)“Your mind is as the earth. Whatever you plant will grow.”
“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path
and leave a trail.”“Success is the ability to hang on after all others have let go.”
=== A SIMPLE, BUT PROFOUND AND POWERFUL TRUTH ===
Jesus said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” It’s
from the Bible, the “address” is John 8:32!In the words sent to me by a very good friend, “‘It is by believing,
hoping, loving and doing that man finds joy and peace’ (Spalding). May all
your days be filled with love, joy, peace” and a deep sense of God’s
presence.Have a “God” day. . .
