Just received this message from a distraught parent (some names and details changed to protect the family’s anonymity).

Hi Rowland. Terry is 16. He attempted suicide for the 5th time yesterday & is fighting for his life in ICU.
All because he was honest on FB a year ago & said he’s Bi then recently said he’s gay. It’s the Christians who – publicly on FB – pushed him to start acting on suicide & inboxing him saying homosexuality is sin & he’s going to hell.
He refuses to believe in God, now, but he loved Jesus passionately a couple of years ago. He used to be a regular worshipper even though he’s only ever known depression. Jesus was his only hope & strength.
We’re hiding interstate because of my ex-husband’s sexual & emotional abuse of me & 3 of my kids.
Terry said last night when I left the hospital that he doesn’t want to believe in God but God is giving him dreams of conversations between the 2 of them & God has saved his life miraculously every suicide attempt. It’s a miracle he’s alive after the latest near-fatal overdose. They said if he came in any later he’d be dead.
Rowland, please never stop educating believers & non believers it’s not sin to have a same sex attraction. Terry fought it for 4 years coz he didn’t want to lose Jesus. If gay marriage was legal here I believe kids & teens would grow up thinking it’s normal to be gay instead of hearing it’s not normal & it’s sin. I’m praying Abbott won’t be our next PM. Legalizing gay marriage I believe would help reduce the teenage gay guy suicide rate.
Please pray for Terry. I saw he’s following you on FB. He’s still searching even though he’s saying if God is real he’s not loving to send him to hell for loving the same sex. He’s a seeker. He knows you’re safe but he doesn’t like any Christians anymore. Please pray he’ll live thru this attempt & that God will show him the truth that He loves him & that homosexuality isn’t sin.
You have my permission to reproduce the substance of this. And thanks for praying. Just got told now he’s out of danger.
